About us
We, the Froebers, that are Monika and Joerg Froeber with our sons Ben and Leon from Roethenbach, that is approx. 15 km east of Nuremberg.
Animal lovers and animal friends we were and always we are at all. From birds, over hamsters, guinea pigs, mice and even snakes, we were then long years real cat lovers, until we had to finally give our two cats up with a heavy heart because of a asthma illness and a cat allergy of our son Leon. But we provided for a beautiful age resting seat for them.
In the year 2004 the thought finally matured to take a pet family member to us again. A cat was not possible because of the allergy, however with Leon definitely a dog allergy was excluded. So the first thought was to help a poor soul from the dog pound in Nuremberg. On many Sundays we visited the dog pound, walked with a few dogs and saw the characteristics of different dogs. With the small Leon, at that time 3 years young, we did not have good feelings, could not "get in connection" to one of these poor dogs. A young dog, which could become large with our son, at that time in the dog pound was missing.
For us became clear, it should a puppy be. However, which breed?
The dog should to be, if adult, not too large and not to small, able to guard the house and also fond of children. Short haired it should not be, never aggresive or moodily and no barker. Books and descriptions of breed were read. At this time the CACIB in Nuremberg was almost here. What should be better as to inform us on a pedigree dog exhibition?
We sauntered the courses, saw many beautiful dogs, but a love at first sight followed...
We came to the German Boxers, many beautiful dogs of this breed, we stopped there at, as we experienced later, at Bruschetta (Bella) and Bariella von der Scherenburg (Jella), two beautiful Boxer sisters.
Our Leon, at that time still in the buggy, shared cookies with the two Boxers, while we held small talk with their owners Isa and Juergen. Occasionally we enjoyed the nearly Boxer-typical kisses and nibbling at our ears.
Yes, latest now it was clearly, only a Boxer could become our new family member. We were fallen in love. At no other breed we had been able to experience a such mutual affection between dog and humans.
By the Boxer Club group of Fuerth we finally received a puppy offer of the kennel "vom Soldan Park" in Forchheim, where we called immediately. The puppies had been just 5 weeks of age and not all had been mediated yet at this time. A first visit was agreed.
It was then on one Friday evening in February 2005, when we made ourselves for the first time on the way to Forchheim. Seven beautiful Boxer-Puppies (Bonita, Beneton, Blacky, Black Berry, Bentley, Betty and Baccara) expected us together with their mother Adora Benelux and half sister Aaliyah vom Soldan Park.
With five weeks of age the small were already rather lively and swarmed around us in the large puppy box, but only on puppy came directly to us on the lap and sought directly the way to our ears with the nearly Boxer-typical kissing and nibbling at the ears to show us its joy and affection to us. Or did she want to whisper to us in the ear "take me, with me you will have much joy"? It was both and our decision was made.
The puppies had now still 3 weeks to remain with their mother. Puppies (correct-proved) earliest with 8 weeks of age can be transferred to the new owners. A long time of waiting for us, which we get over by weekly visits and so we could already take part of the growing and the development of our baby.
On one Saturday in March 2005 finally - a Boxer - our Boxer - came into the house. We strained waited for the afternoon, until it finally rang. "There Baccara is!" She investigated the whole ground floor, which we had made "puppy-safe" first before. Then the garden was taken in possession. So funny and pretty to watch.
The first night was exerting, Baccara missed her mother, now she had only us and the new situation, a new live, to accustom. It cried and howled much, however searched our proximity and was thereby fast to be calmed down. After 2 or 3 days this mourning had put. Baccara was now integrated into the family.
What we never thought before, already after one week Baccara, except a few "accidents" at plays and raving, was room clean. Here a consistent walking out after every (!) meal helped well.
From our Breeder Eva Galenzyka, our club and other contacts we knew, that the contact to other dogs, strange dogs (boxers and other breeds) for the socialization and later compatibility is much important right at the puppy age. So next Saturday came and we went to the first puppy play, which we visited from now on regularly.
We repent not one of these Saturdays, because now Baccara has no problems with other dogs.
This story of us and our Boxer-Lady will be continued soon.
